What is the lid coating?

The lid coating is porcelain enamel which is baked on at 870 degrees centigrade and it is this enamel infused with glass finish that make it the toughest finish available for a barbecue lid and to leave it looking good even after multiple uses. Do not get mixed up between porcelain enamel and high temperature paint. Only the highest quality barbecues like Weber and BarbeSkew use porcelain enamel. Lower quality barbecues tend to use high temperature paint which will peel off within a year, and this will be reflected in their low price and shorter life-span.
